Landscape photography

Landscapes
"Great photography is about depth of feeling, not depth of field."
Peter Adams

Britain's countryside is amongst the most magnificent in the world, from the gently rolling hills of the Sussex Downs to the rugged mountains of Snowdonia, the beautiful forests at the foothills of the Mourne Mountains in Northern Ireland to the wide open spaces of the Scottish Highlands. All year round there is something to take your breath away.

Because I live in the heart of West Sussex most of what I shoot is based in this area. However whenever I get the opportunity to go further afield my camera always comes too.

As with most of my work, I prefer to take a slightly different approach to landscapes. I try to capture the feeling invoked by a place instead of an accurate record of what can be seen. This often involves the use of strong contrast and vivid colours or blurred movement, which I accept is not to everyone's taste.

Stock Landscapes

I have a range of 'stock' landscapes available in a variety of print formats and in unlimited numbers to anyone who wishes to buy them. Some of these have been commended in or even won competitions. Why not take a look at my landscape galleries to see if there's anything there you already like!

Commissioned Landscapes

For those who like what I can do and want a piece of original photographic art, I will also undertake landscape commissions. These can often take several weeks to complete as Mother Nature can be very un-cooperative with the weather...

What you can expect

There will be an initial consultation in a manner which suits you, during which we will discuss exactly what you would like and a likely timeframe for completion of your original work.

When I say 'original' I mean it. I won't be giving you something from my archive; I will go out and shoot what you have asked for which means that if your commission is seasonal, such as a snow covered church or fields of wheat at sunset, it will have to wait until the correct time of year.

The series of images I take will be presented in a passworded gallery in exactly the same way as with my custom portraits. Once you have selected your prints you will be the only person to ever purchase them, they will not go on the public areas of my website and I will never enter them into competitions, no matter how good they are. It will be the same as if you had commissioned a painting.
